The Adistar Control 5 continues its dominant run- this time it’s hitting the beaches of Puerto Rico.

adidas and Jersey City-based cultural institution Sneaker Room come together to launch the Sneaker Room x adidas Adistar Control 5, a community-first collaboration rooted in Puerto Rican history, pride, and tradition. The profits from every pair sold through Sneaker Room will go back to the island to support the construction of an outdoor roof for an elementary school in Salinas, creating a safe, dedicated space for students to learn and grow.

Building on adidas’s presence at last year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade, where a custom Adistar Control 5 sparked a strong community response, the collaboration returns as a fully realized drop. The sneaker features nine interchangeable tongue patches inspired by iconic symbols of the island, including the Flor de Maga, coquí, and the pava, allowing each pair to become a personal expression of Puerto Rican identity. “Nuestra Cultura al Mundo” is printed on the back of the sneaker and extends beyond the product as part of a broader adidas platform uplifting Hispanic and Latino/a/e voices across sport, culture, and community.

The collaboration continues the brand’s long-term investment in the Puerto Rican community through adidas Cornerstone Community. Following last year’s work with Sneaker Room during Hispanic Heritage Month – supporting school murals, providing book bags, and creating youth experiences in Salinas and Aguada – the commitment carries forward with a new series of cultural activations across Puerto Rico and the mainland U.S.

On May 16, adidas Cornerstone Community and Sneaker Room will host a community celebration at Instituto de Subcultura in Santurce. The event spotlights 16 local artists, exhibiting art inspired by adidas and Puerto Rico. As a heartfelt “thank you” to the people of Puerto Rico who inspired it all, a limited number of sneakers will be given out, first-come, first-served, while they last.

The celebration continues on May 30 in Jersey City, where adidas and Sneaker Room will bring the energy home through an in-store activation. The event will feature live DJ sets and a street takeover, Salsa on Central, at 5 p.m., in partnership with the City of Jersey City, including a salsa concert and a performance by Danny Matos Y La Zaborinque.

The Sneaker Room x adidas Adistar Control 5 will be available at Sneaker Room retail locations and online at https://www.snkrroom.com/ beginning May 30th, starting at $145.

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
