The Nike Dunk has seen several evolutions since debuting in 1985.
Known for its place on the court of college programs across the country, it has become, most recently, an era-defining sneaker of the post-pandemic era of sneaker collecting. Now, Union Los Angeles is exploring a new era for the iconic sneaker.
In their official announcement of the collaboration, Union Los Angeles stated: “For our latest collaboration with Nike, we revisit the Dunk with that history in mind. Natural Selection takes its name from the idea that taste evolves, and that the things we continue to wear are often the things that have simply stood the test of time. Darwin used natural selection to explain how species evolve over generations, as traits better suited to their environment become more common. We liked the same idea here: that certain things endure because they simply make sense. ”
The collection takes a more considered approach to the Dunk and the everyday uniform, with an emphasis on materials, color, and familiar silhouettes. The footwear and accompanying apparel will be available on October 30th, 2026.
