The hottest sneaker collection of the year has a fresh round of Old Skools ready to hit the streets.
Introduced about a year ago, the Souvenir Pack marked the arrival of this fruitful period that VANS has enjoyed throughout the last few years. No, it wasn’t the pair that started it all, but it was a sign that VANS had more great ideas in the chamber beyond jeweled Old Skools.
The debuting colorways of the Souvenir Pack flew off shelves. Sneaker heads who didn’t check VANS beyond their periodic licensed collaborations suddenly became the brand’s biggest fans. Rightfully so. The collection not only showed that VANS was gearing up for the hottest year of, well, almost any other brand in sneakers, but it scratched the itch it so masterfully has over the last year and a change.
Those vintage designer bag motifs fed the sneakerhead beasts, all the while doing it so in a way that didn’t feel like a gimmick. VANS wasn’t only showing tribute; it was reminding us that their iconic silhouettes belong in that “classic” conversation. This latest round of colorways only furthers that point, too.
The new “Faded Black” and “Oatmeal Beige” pairs bring the inspiration to life thanks to their neutral tones. As the aesthetic details have blended on prior, more moody colorways, this latest batch truly allows the details to come to life. The beige and black uppers allow the tweed side stripe and tongue details to take center stage. All the while, the aged details feel more apparent and focused on this latest rendition of the Souvenir Pack.
As VANS continues its hot streak, it is great to see the brand revisit this classic style and make it more widely available to sneaker fans who have missed out on prior colorways. The Souvenier Old Skool 36 in Faded Black and Oatmeal Beige release tomorrow, July 23rd, via Foot Locker and participating VANS retailers.
