The hyper-limited Air Jordan 7 that launched in 2008 is returning this week.
The pair, which never launched in the United States, arrived in the Summer of 2008 to coincide with the Beijing Summer Olympic Games. The shoes themselves, though, honored a different edition of the Summer Games- the 1992 Summer Olympics, when Team USA left its mark on International Basketball.

The 1992 games saw Team USA’s Dream Team go for Gold through a spectacular tournament of basketball. The team was loaded, of course, with the likes of Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Scottie Pippen, and, of course, Michael Jordan. The Bulls were on a winning their second consecutive NBA Championship, when Team USA came together in Beijing. Jordan and Pippen carried that momentum into winning Gold that summer. Cementing the Dream Team as one of the best sports conglomerates of all time.
Michael Jordan was on his seventh signature sneaker come the 1992 Games- and had to come correct for the big Summer. As a result, Jordan Brand launched the now iconic Olympic Air Jordan 7- the classic White leather was accented with hits of Silver, Red, Blue, and, naturally, Gold. With iconic details like placing Jordan’s Team USA number on the back, the shoe stood out among a predominantly Black and Red line-up of Air Jordan sneakers. That sneaker went on to be a classic. It also inspired the Air Jordan 7 ‘Miro’.
The ‘Miro’ 7 didn’t simply honor the legacy of Michael Jordan that Summer in Barcelona in 1992. It brought the world of Fine Arts into the celebration. And boy, did it do it well. The sneaker kept some nods to the Olympic 7, like the gold Jumpman logo and the Olympic number 9 on the heel. That said, it drew inspiration from the city that hosted the games. Furthermore, it drew inspiration from one of the most influential artists of Barcelona.

The works of Joan Miro inspired the sneaker. The pioneer of surrealism who changed the way we perceive art in the mid-1920s. The life-bending, provocative, colorful works of Joan Miró inspired the Air Jordan 7, which launched in 2008 with his namesake. In that way, it celebrated Jordan’s iconic performance in Barcelona. All the while, honoring the artistic legacy of one of the most important artists of all time.
Now in 2026, the Air Jordan 7 ‘Miro’ is making a comeback. Though the 2008 edition only saw 1,000 pairs available, the 2026 edition will be much more available. The Air Jordan 7 ‘Miro’ launches July 10th via Nike, SNKRS, and participating Jordan Brand retailers.
