As part of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebration, the iconic franchise is collaborating with adidas Originals for an extensive capsule featuring some of the most iconic Pokémon ever.
The entire collection is made up of fourteen sneakers that celebrate fan-favorite Pokémon like Charizard, Gengar, and, of course, Pikachu and Mewtwo. The latter two iconic ‘Mons are being reinterpreted through multiple sneakers. Of course, Pikachu headlines the collection with three separate pairs, and the one launching tomorrow at JD Sports is as representative of the franchise as any.
The pair connects two undoubtable icons in Pikachu and the adidas Superstar. Naturally, the pair is dressed in a yellow upper. Said upper uses plush suede to bring the character to life (if only).
Other stand out details include Pikachu’s face on the heel and a reimagination of Pikachu’s instantly recognizable ears on the tongue. Much like every shoe in the collection, the pair is rounded out by a Poké Ball lace charm.
The Mewtwo Samba reimagines the first legendary Pokémon of the beloved series. Dressed in the iconic lavender tones, the shoe brings the ever-pivotal character onto one of adidas’ most important models.
Mewtwo appears on the sneaker’s tongue tag. All the while, the pair modifies the upper eyestays to represent Mewtwo’s fingers. The first of three pairs in the collection that represent the character, the Mewtwo Samba is rounded out by the Poké Ball lace charm that is found throughout the collection.
Both the Pikachu Superstar and the Mewtwo Samba will launch tomorrow, September 22nd, via JD Sports. Look out for the collection to land via adidas soon.
