The latest Kobe 4 Protro pack serves to remind the teams that passed on Bryant about their grave mistake.
Kobe’s fourth signature sneaker with Nike is not a stranger to a capsule surrounding the lore of that fateful night in 1996. Back in 2019, Nike and UNDFTD connected over a four-sneaker capsule that launched on Mamba Day. This latest pack is on another level, though.

The 2026 Kobe Protro pack will be centered around the NBA Draft. The collection will feature 14 colorways. All but one of the sneakers in the pack will arrive with a white wear-away upper, over time, pairs will reveal the primary team colors of those who missed on a legend. From the 76ers, to the Clippers, and even the Hornets, who drafted Bryant before trading him on draft night, are represented in the pack.
The final colorway from the “Draft Day” pack is a standalone, fully revealed gold and purple colorway. It is bold, it is loud, and it is representative of the franchise that took the risk on a kid entering the draft out of high school- the Los Angeles Lakers.

The details don’t stop at a wear-away upper, though. The insole features a lottery number associated with the team that passed on him in that year’s draft order. Similarly, the tongue features another draft easter egg. This time, Bryant’s last name is listed on the tongue with his 13th overall draft number- meant to represent the draft board of the 1996 NBA Draft.
The coolest detail of them all, though, is how Nike has gamified this special pack.
The Kobe 4 Protro “Draft Pack” is expected to launch as a mystery pack. Fans who purchase a pair from the collection will have a chance to hit on any of the 14 pairs represented in the collection. Almost as if replicating the feeling of taking the risk on a generational athlete, fans are expected not to know which pair they are receiving until they unbox their pair.

The launch of the Kobe 4 Protro “Draft Pack” is expected to coincide with the 2026 NBA Draft. Currently, the pack is expected to launch on June 23rd via Nike.
