El Tri will have a third kit.
Today, adidas has revealed the Mexican National Team’s third kit. The host nation’s third kit will return in a popular colorway. Coming in black, the kit is a return to the tradition that began in 2010. During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Mexico and adidas released an away kit in black. The 2010 kit broke the mold of the traditional white away kit. The jersey broke sales records for adidas, and Mexico went on to release several black jerseys in the coming years. Now, the black kit is back.
Under the concept “The Mexican Wa(y)ve,” the new jersey features an elegant tonal “MX” pattern throughout. The uniform, which includes a V-neck and meticulously crafted details, integrates the message “Somos México” (We Are Mexico) as a call for unity—a signature also featured on the National Team’s Home and Away jerseys.
This jersey serves as a symbol of national identity, paying tribute to Mexico as the only country in history to host three World Cups, marking a milestone in international soccer. Like the National Team’s Away jersey, this third kit will feature the distinctive adidas Trefoil. Every design detail reflects the character of a country that lives, plays, and celebrates soccer with unique intensity.
As part of this launch, adidas presents a complementary collection from adidas Originals in collaboration with Someone Somewhere. This line includes six apparel pieces featuring
details hand-crafted by women artisans from the community of Naupan, in the Sierra Norte of Puebla.
The collection also features a special version of the jersey—the Artisan JSY—which reinterprets the third kit design with a lifestyle focus, incorporating a polo collar and embroidered details. The collection aims to take Mexican pride beyond the stadium, connecting sport with culture and artisanal craftsmanship.
The third jersey will debut on May 22 in a match against the Ghana national team. The Mexican National Team’s third kit is available now.
